Mom has ALS, no life insurance. What are my options?

She had life insurance when she was working a while back but they cancelled it without her knowing for missing some payments. She had no idea o this until she called to check on her policy after receiving her diagnosis. She currently receives social security and disability but of course that will stop when she passes. I have no clue what to do or what my options are. It would probably be near impossible to get some sort of term life insurance now, right? Is there some kind of organization I could look into?
