term life insurance
Rajaei A asked:

Hello !! Michael,
I am interested in a term life insurance policy for myself and my
wife. We are 50 and 51 years of age and in overall good health.
We are both overweight according to Farmers insurance
guidelines. Everything was fine with regards to our health except
for their restrictions about the weight issue.

My question: What are we supposed to do in order to be insured
with a reputable company ?
We would be willing to pay a higher premium if necessary.
Could you Please recommend some insurance companys that
provide flexibility with regard to weight.

Your help is appreciated !!!!

Call a LOCAL agent, and have him/her do a free, personal Financial Need Analysis (FNA), or other Total Need Program for you, to help YOU determine in YOUR own mind, YOUR total need for life insurance, based on YOUR personal short and long-term goals and objectives.

Your weight will be a factor in underwriting, but depending on how much overwieght you are, the insurance company can rate the policy up to cover the risk.

If ANYONE recommends a particular kind or amount of life insurance, without doing an FNA, he/she is not a professional, and will be doing you a disservice. It’s YOUR plan, and no one else’s.

The agent who provides the FNA will show you several different ways you can cover your total need, and ONLY YOU can make the decision on which way to go, based on YOUR goals and objectives.

The FNA will also help you determine if you need a Tax-Shelter, or a Disability Income plan, to provide an income should you be hurt or sick and can’t work.

According to statistics, disability is a greater risk than death prior to the age of 65.

Here are a few names of insurance companies as you requested. (Not in any particular order of preference.)

Nationwide, State Farm, Monumental Life, Motorists Life, American General Life and Accident, Western-Southern Life, New York Life, United of Omaha (A Mutual of Omaha company), Liberty Life, Liberty Mutual, American National, Massachusettes Mutual, MetLife.
