My ex’s mother passed away leaving him the beneficiary of her life insurance and he owes child support arrearages and I am trying to find out if that money can be held and used to pay towards the back child support and any ideas on how to find out the life insurance information to provide to the department of child support enforcement.

I have had a VERY unprofessional and unpleasant experience with a well known Life Insurance company. I had State Insurance Administration intervene the situation and re-instate my policy.
This whole process put me through a lot of hassle. All the Life insurance Company is saying that “It was an administrative mistake and we have re-instated your policy.” Having gone through the agony, I don’t thing just “sorry” is enough.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Thank you all for your answer…each one of the answer has a point…
I do understand your thought process. Believe me; I am not looking for any ‘monitory” benefit. But I do expect them to sincerely accept their mistake, which is still missing in their response.
I will most probably go with another company.
Their attitude is “We did a good deed by re-instating your policy”.
Even though the June, 2007 premium was withdrawn from my bank, three months after that (Sep. 2007) they informed me that the premium was not received and terminated my policy.

My father in law had a life insurance policy that stated who the beneficiaries were. A few months ago he re-wrote his will and in the will stated that he no longer wants the original beneficiaries but rather some other ones. The policy was never changed, and he is now deceased. Do we go with the policy or the will?

If I am the beneficiary of life insurance payment after someone dies, do I have to by law use that money to pay off the deceased debts? Or is this something that the bill collectors cannot touch at least legally? How would the creditors even know that there was a payout of life insurance? Anyway for them to know this? Can I get in trouble for not paying?

In the event that someone dies, can their life insurance proceeds be directed a specific way if they leave a note of such wish? If not, what must be done to direct the proceeds of a life insurance settlement so that specific things be done. For example: paying a bill or buying a house for the beneficiary.

Was it legal for a mother to take out three life insurance policies on her daughter in 1990?
The three policies had a twenty year term and are due to return a dividend in 2010. Now that i am 19 and don’t live with my mother anymore, legally who does this money belong too?
Please Help!
Some useful links would be appreciated too , Thanks!

Hi;
I am an independent insurance agent in SC. I have a heavy client [6' 3", 400]. He falls outside the “build tables” of the life insurers I currently work with. He wants term.
Does anyone have any direct experience with a life insurer that will accept a client with this build?
Can anyone direct to me resources that might lead me to a life insurer that will accept a client with this build?
Thank you for taking a look at my question.

My friend has a term life insurance policy that is less than 2 years old. She entered the hospital recently for a newly diagnosed bipolar disorder and had admitted to thoughts of *******. Within 2 months of her stay and diagnosis, her term life insurance policy was canceled by the insurance company for reasons of risk. Can they legally do this? I read the policy, but am unclear whether they have the right to do this. Thanks.
