NB asked:
I’m 25 and I don’t have a family yet, but will eventually. My job is kinda stable at the moment. Should I purchase life insurance and mutual funds NOW to lock in the low price so I will build up more money in the future for my family? What are the risks?
What other options should I take, like IRA, roth IRA, 401k stuff? (I don’t know what they mean yet, if you could sum them up for me, that’d help) And what are their risks?

At good companies, we all are given life insurance packages when we are employed. Right? Now, after termination, what happens to them? If the premiums are already paid out let us say for next 10 years, can we get to keep them? It would be a lot of money. I mean as a coverage if I die or something? Or is it just some nasty trick that lasts only until I stay with that particular employer?

Jennifer J asked:
Retirement, Life Insurance, stocks/bonds, Bank Accounts etc. We are in the process of a divorce and I need that information that he has kept from me. He is very controlling and has that kept confidential. I have already seen a lawyer… Isn’t there an easy way for the lawyer to request that information from him? Does my lawyer need my input so that we are sure to have ALL of the information? I’m confused. We have been married 7 years.

My husband and I have been advised to buy a significant amount of whole life insurance as a safe way to invest. We have just started our family and I am a little wary. I am not really sure I understand why it would be better to do this than to invest in bonds, annuities, etc. Any ideas? answers?

I’m very skeptical about a ‘friend’ trying to sell my significant other ‘investment’ life insurance as a tax reducing, long term investment. We do not have a mortgage or children, and he is 46 years old. He was looking for some investment that would reduce his tax liability. To me, this is one of the worst investments, especially in his situation, but maybe I’m missing something…

And your term life insurance policy does not have an ability to convert to a permanent policy w/o going through underwriting (which now you will not qualify for coverage)?? And you die after your term policy is exhausted, will the person who gave you such advice now help your family??
