In March 2004 I purchased some term life insurance. When I
moved to Washington State (from Colorado where the policy was
writen) I changed my bank accounts and
closed the account that my life insurance premium was
automatically being paid from. My life insurance coverage lapsed
(currently 120 days).
In the policy contract it says you can reinstate the policy by (1)
provide evidence of insurability and (2) pay all overdue
premiums plus 6% interest.
Now here is the BIG question…. Am I Insurable?
This Jan I was diagnosed with HIV. I have health insurance
paperwork signed by my doctor showing my HIV+ status and
saying that I do not have AIDS.
In all the life insurance medical underwriting questions it asks…
in the past 10 yrs have you been
(a) Diagnosed by a member of the medical profession as having
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or AIDS-Related
Complex (ARC)?
(b) Treated by a member of the medical profession for AIDS or
ARC?
By my understanding of these two questions can answer NO to
both of them.
Does this mean I can go about reinstating my life insurance?

Any ideas for a 30 year old male and female (listed seperately) at the standard health rate?
Terrible answer on the price being irrelavent….especially from someone that is a financial advisor. I’ve had 2 financial advisors from two different highly rated companies and they where pushing $1M polices with a combo of pernament life…seriously? I just want all dept wiped if I were to die.

Policy with Globe Life for over 20 years. I enquired today via email with Globe Life about taking out a Life Insurance policy on myself and was told this Policy expires at age 80. I said so what you are saying is really this Insurance called Whole or Permanent Life Insurance is really Term Life Insurance and you can pay into it all those years and if you live past 80, it terminates.. Did you Know???
You can go to the Globe Permanent Whole Life Insurance Website and read the details on it and it says it terminates at age 80. This is really confusing to Policy Holders when they think as long as they pay their premiums, they are “permanently” no age limit, protected.

I am the HR manager for a small company, around 50 employees. The company supplies a $20,000 term life policy and offers voluntary employee term life. I had an employee who left our company. I sent out his Cobra information, and Information detailing his rights to his 401K plan. All employees receive a booklet, along with their certificate, for each of the coverages they have. Exp. Term life, Voluntary term life, Short term Disability, and Voluntary long term disability. It states in their booklets, they have the right to convert their term life insurance upon termination. They have three months to submit a written request for a conversion package. This employee never requested to convert and unfortuneately pasted away four months later. His wife has hired a lawyer who is requesting information he feels falls under the ERICA act. Doesn’t this act only apply to Health insurance? Is there a law that required me to give further notification of conversion?
The lawyer already had the booklets concerning the term life insurance. He is requesting any correspondence between our company and the insurance company, any letters to this employee concerning this coverage and proof that payment was deducted from his paycheck and sent to the insurance company. I feel he is on a fishing expedition. There is no court order for documents, just his letter stating they are entitled to this information under ERISA.

It’s a difficult to get started to buy Long Term Insurance , it’s expensive and maybe will never use it. Life Insurance at least you know you will die sooner or later. I was offered a combined insurance with Nationwide Ins… now confused if that is a good idea. BTW I am 60.. Anybody has any suggestion or information about Nationwide? Thanks.

My aunt isnt really in a vegetative state. She is aware of her surroundings and can tell when family comes in. However, she’s had 6 or 7 strokes which have left her unable to move or talk. I am wondering if she is still eligible for term life insurance – which would cover the funeral costs when she passes.
