I’m 20 years old and 5 months pregnant with my first child. I’m starting to think about things like life insurance. I know I want term life insurance and not whole because I am already set up with a 401k at my job. The quotes I’m getting are confusing me and I’m not entirely sure what to ask for in terms of years (20, 25, 30 etc) and amount (500,000 750,000 etc). How much should I be paying monthly and can anyone recommend what a healthy 20 year old with (soon to be) one dependent should be going after for a life insurance plan?

I am divorced. I have two children. One is married and the other has a steady girlfriend. He will most likely be getting married in three years or so. I have a $10,000 term life insurance that I pay out of my pocket. I also have a $10,000 with my place of employment.
Is this enough should my demise come? I also have insurance on my son, daughter no longer because she is married.
I do not own a home and I have one outstanding debt which will be paid for by July of this year. A poster mentioned that the work insurance could stop, so really I need a little more than $10,000. My son is in his 3rd year of college. He lives with me part time and his grandmother the other part of the week. And, he will be well off if his grandmother passes away.

My husband doesn’t want to get life insurance, he thinks it is a waste and a scam. But if something should happen to him, me and the kids would be SOL. How do I get insurance for us? How do I know the insurance co. will actually pay if something does happen? Are there ways to write the policy so to protect us better?

What is the best health insurance and life insurance policies? I am recently out of the military and need to purchase an individual health ins policy. However, I am not sure which ones are the best. I am a student, do they offer any good student policies? Also, is the SGLI to VGLI conversion a good change to make? If not, which is better term or whole life insurance policies?

I read a previous thread suggesting MediCare, but I am not talking about HEALTH insurance. They only have term life insurance tied to current job, and they need to retire. They have no burial policy, and each is worried about leaving the other with burial expenses and debts. I have seen a few ads online, but when you get to the fine print, they seem mostly like scams. They probably wouldn’t get a very good rating if a health exam were required. Probably $15 -$25K max would be the amount needed. They live in Texas if that matters.

My parents got me a whole life insurance policy when I was young. Now I’m 24 and have a full time job (have worked here for over a year) and am receiving term life insurance from my work.

Do you think it would be a smart idea to cash in my Whole Life policy and pay off all of my debt. Instead of paying high interest rates and barely getting any of the principal paid off i could pay it all off and save my money for other things.

I dont need two insurance policies right?! I am engaged but I dont have any children, and dont plan to for another 5-6 years.
P.S. I’m not going to work online, i have Bachelors degree. I’m worth more money than that. I can do freelance work if i have to.

But I’m not looking for advice on getting an extra job, im looking for financial advice about Insurance.

My father just gave me five (5) $10k insurance policies he had on me to me (i’m now 33 and married). They are about $100/year each ($500 total a year for $50k).

I would think I would need a lot more coverage and get a term policy – but is there an advantage to keep the others? or just cash them out (worth less than $4k)
