I am 35 now and had 2 stents implanted 3 years ago. Aside from that, my health has greatly improved since the procedure. My cardiologist even approved me to compete in tri-athlons. I applied for term insurance each year since and have been declined each time. Is it too early yet? I heard 5 years is when companies start considering.

What options do I have? Should I buy a few smaller policies that require no medical?

My husband seems to lean towards whole life because the premium is cheaper and cash value is built? I lean towards term because when I was working in private banking, that was what was recommended. $70,000 term for $20 a week
$52,xxx whole life for $15 a week
Thank you. I will show this to my husband.
Thank you. My husband wants me to have some money in case something happens to him. If we want to cover the mortgage then we would need about $100,000. I could cover the balance on my own. His concern about term was the time line. I believe he said 10 years. This is from work. No health exam is required. Since he is in good health, should we insist on having a health exam? Could that bring the cost down?
I don’t know much about the whole life policy. I know to look out for anything that says guaranteed, especially when about investments. Thank you. I spent time in financial services and was introduced to insurance. That was years ago now though. We don’t have pension. We have 401K plans. I also have some IRAs (roth & simple).

Currently I have no children yet, what’s best for me?
They say “get Term and invest the difference” I know I would be getting more returns in this way. And Whole seems to be too expensive, it’s like I’m paying for 100 years old life but reality people die by age 70-80. So what is really good?

There are several private insurance companies in India and they are coming out with different plans. The insurance policies are long term contracts with an objective of providing protection for 20-30 year duration. In current economy, we are not sure how many of these private companies will survive. If an insurance company closes or goes bankrupt, what happens to my policies and premiums paid? Are there any guidelines by IRDA to deal with such situations to extend the protection to policy holders?
