When life insurance is part of a divorce as protection for child support payments, what is the best type of life insurance and how do you determine the amount of life insurance needed. I was thinking term life for 15 years since both children would be 19 by that time. But I do not know anything about life insurance so I need some advice.
I forgot to say there are two children if that makes a difference in the amount.

why it is cheaper for 40 year old to buy automobile insurance than it is for an 18 year old?
why some people prefer term insurance even though it does not have any cash in value? why other people prefer straight life insurance even though it is more expensive than term?
why it pay to buy fire insurance for your home or apartment even though you may never have a fire? why a healthy person still needs health insurance?

My husband(30) and I(28) need term life insurance. My job offers portable term insurance through Prudential..It will be subsidized by the employer as long as I am employed but I have the option of carrying it with me with no subsidy though…I was thinking this would be good for us since it had the lowest cost than what we got at insure.com..anyone know any info about this kind of policy..does the premium increase every year and how significantly would the premium increase if I leave the employer?

My husband and I are both 23 years old and we just purchased a home. We have been under pressure from our Insurance Agent and our Mortgage broker to obtain Life Insurance in case something happens to one of us.
We would like to have coverage in case something happens. We are pretty much clueless when it comes to Insurance policies. I ALREADY LOOKED UP THE INFO ON WIKIPEDIA, SO PLEASE DON’T GIVE ME MORE OF THAT. I want opinions on what the best kind of Life Insurance is for us. GIVE ME DETAILS OF POLICIES AND WHAT THEY MEAN. WHAT CAN I DO WITH THEM? HOW DO THEY WORK? HOW DO WE BENEFIT? PROS & CONS? PRICES?
I KNOW NOTHING! HELP!
Term (but if it is a 30 year term, does that mean when we are for example 54 and something happens after the 30 years, we aren’t covered?) or Permanant (whole life). We didn’t like the decreasing term policy our agent showed us. We have gotten 2 quotes for Term Life, BUT I DON’T UNDERSTAND INSURANCE!
Help us make an informed decision!!! Please!

we are overseas now but would like to buy a 20 years term life insurance policy from US……is it possible?
We will be staying here (Taiwan) for more than 5 years and the insurance there is terrible and so expensive.
I’m wondering if we are here and something happens to us – can we get the benefits from insurance co. ??

My husband doesn’t want to get life insurance, he thinks it is a waste and a scam. But if something should happen to him, me and the kids would be SOL. How do I get insurance for us? How do I know the insurance co. will actually pay if something does happen? Are there ways to write the policy so to protect us better?
